The Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Ecologist to manage and oversee ecological projects across Queensland. The role offers flexibility to be based in Townsville, Rockhampton, or Brisbane, with the requirement to travel to Townsville once a month for fieldwork.
The role will involve overseeing and directing senior technical staff both in the field and office, coordinating all project-related activities, undertaking ecological surveys as needed, project tendering and basic business development, internal management, successfully leading client interactions, and maintaining effective communication with the public, subcontractors, and various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
- Managing and leading ecological projects from inception to completion
- Conducting fieldwork, ecological surveys, and assessments
- Engaging with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies
- Overseeing junior ecologists and technical staff
- Preparing project tenders, proposals, and reports
- Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Experience in ecological consulting, preferably in mining or related industries
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, flora and fauna identification, and GIS applications
- Experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and report writing
- Ability to lead field surveys and mentor junior staff
- Commitment to sustainability and Indigenous collaboration
- Full driver’s license and willingness to travel
