AWX and Fruit2Work have been in a powerful partnership since November 2022, prioritising social impact and creating opportunities for individuals to create better lives. This collaboration sets a new standard for social responsibility by focusing on meaningful employment, family reconnection and long-term success.
Fruit2Work, a not-for-profit social enterprise, delivers fresh produce and pantry goods to workplaces across Melbourne and Geelong. Their mission is to provide meaningful employment opportunities to those affected by the justice system, offering nurturing work experiences to develop crucial skills.
Kim Holloway, AWX Melbourne Branch Manager, commended the transformative work happening at Fruit2Work. According to Kim, "Nothing comes close to what Simon is doing at Fruit2Work." Founder Simon's dedication to reconnecting families and equipping them with job-readiness skills is unparalleled. While reoffending rates in Victoria stand at almost 50%, not a single one of the 80 individuals who worked with Fruit2Work has reoffended.
Once individuals join the Fruit2Work family, they receive extensive support, programs, and valuable connections to ensure a smooth transition within six months. This approach empowers individuals to build sustainable careers and seize opportunities.
This is where AWX comes in – offering long-term employment to those transitioning from Fruit2Work. When it's time for a Fruit2Work employee to enter the workforce, Simon collaborates with the AWX Melbourne team to identify job vacancies that align with his employee's skill sets. Kim says, "He's not there to put them in any job, he's there to put them in the right job." This personalised approach ensures that placements align with individuals' strengths and interests, fostering long-term success.
The partnership between Fruit2Work and AWX has been mutually beneficial. Kim highlighted how it gives purpose to the AWX team, stating, "What it does for us, and the team is giving us purpose behind what we do. We treat everyone the same and put arms around people who are grateful for the opportunity." This commitment to equality and support creates a positive and inclusive work environment.
AWX’s partnership with Fruit2Work goes beyond the conventional understanding of diversity and equity. Kim says, "Diversity is everything, right? It's about recognising the fact that our brands, AWX for example, help people carve out their own opportunities." AWX's partnership with Fruit2Work aligns with its belief that everyone deserves a chance at employment.
Through this partnership, Fruit2Work and AWX are reshaping the job market and transforming lives. By championing inclusivity and providing the necessary tools for personal and professional growth, they exemplify the power of purpose-driven collaborations. Together, they are paving the way for a brighter future where opportunities abound for all.
